Project #3 – Making Soap

March 31, 2013

By now I thought I would be lathering up with my own homemade soap, but it hasn’t happened.  In fact my soap hasn’t turned out as planned.  Here are some pictures of the soap:

So what went wrong?….well, I think I know.  You can read about it here: My Soap Didn’t Turn Out

March 18, 2013 – 5 steps to making soap at home

I finally got all the ingredients together that I needed and actually made some soap.  Well at least I think I did.  It will take about 2 to 3 weeks for the soap to fully cure and be ready to use.

I wrote a post about how I did it here:

Hand Made Soap in 5 Steps

I show the recipe I used, and give step by step instruction on what I did.

I discovered first hand that lye can be kinda scary…and can melt plastic.  I’ll be better prepared next time.  Learn from my mistakes…please. 🙂

Making bar soap has made me curious.  How do I make liquid hand soap?  How about laundry detergent?

Here is what the bar soaps look like today.
