An important part of food storage is rotation of food. The older food should be eaten first. The reason behind a rotating storage is to avoid waste. Below are some rotating shelves that I built for the #10 cans that are common from the Home Storage Centers and other locations.
I built these from scrap wood that I saved. I guess I didn’t worry too much about the aesthetics of the shelves. I could have sanded and painted them to look nicer, but they serve their purpose just fine in my storage room. It might be an interesting idea to build these out of wooden pallets. All that is needed to build these shelves is scrap wood, a saw, hammer, and nails.
Here is a picture of one shelf without a side. It has slanted slats that allow the cans to roll back then down and to the front.
Here are the general dimensions that I used to build these shelves.
I hope this inspires you to build your own shelves!
